Copy Editing and Proofreading

Before publishing an article you yourself have written, or one that was written for you, it's significant to take steps in making sure the piece is of high quality, is easy to read and know, and is error free. This means Copy Editing and Proofreading  the work and even having a fresh set of eyes do that same when you're finished. If you are involved in learning the essential steps in properly proofreading a written piece of content in order to get it ready for publishing, read on.

The first step in copy editing and proofreading is to run the spell checker on your word processor. This will help to catch the more obvious mistakes that may have been made during the writing process. However, no qualified proofreading process would stop at this stage. A spell checker can actually miss quite a few points that need attention before an article is published. For example, sometimes while a word is spelled correctly, it can be used in the wrong context, which is something a spell checker can't pick up.

This is why the second step in editing and proofreading is to read over the piece while taking your time. You may have read through it already, but do so again once the spell checker has been complete. Take time to identify parts of the article that can be tightened up or reworded so that it's an easier read. Keep a dictionary handy and don't rush the process. While reading the article as a professional proofreading specialist would, it is important to look for instance where the article might repeat itself. Change words that are repeated too often throughout to others with the same general meaning. Make sure that information is new and crunchy as the article moves on, instead of just recap itself from beginning to end.

One more important step in copy editing and proofreading is to make sure words are capitalized only where it's needed. Proper comma usage and sentence structure is important as well. You can find the most errors by essentially pulling the article apart reading only one sentence at a time. Try reading the sentence forward and then backward to better analyze the text. You can use numerous references when copy editing and proofreading your work, one of the most reliable is the Gregg Reference Manual. You can obtain a paperback copy of the physical, or you can pay for access to their website in order to use their military.

Finally, while you don't need to pay for specialized proofreading, you should believe having a friend or family member proofread your work for you after you've done the leg work yourself. A fresh set of eyes always plays an important role in finding any well hidden grammar errors and mistakes. They can also provide valuable feedback as to the depth of the satisfied they have read which may help you better develop the points you are trying to get across in your article. The Importance of Typesetting Services and Advertisement Design

When placing your ad in print publication you can make a much better response if you have a well designed add Many of the publication out there will offer you free typesetting which is great as it will save you from paying for some typeset ads but the one problem that goes with this is that your ad will look very similar to many of the other ads that the publication has typeset for their other customers. All Typesetting Services have their own style of making ads and the typesetting department for that magazine will have the same style. I have used this free typesetting service from publications in the past and received responses to my ads but have also had my ads done by a different typesetter/ad designer, sent those ads in to a publication and received a much better reply because my ad looked different from the rest.
Typesetting is not too costly especially through those who offer typesetting service by mail. I have compared the prices between some well known mail order dealers who offer this service and the prices from local typesetters and there is a really, really big difference in price. Like mentioned earlier, seems like typesetters all have their own method and it has gotten to a point with me now that when I see ads in magazines I can usually tell who typeset the specific ad I'm looking at. Usually the rates for ads to be typeset are a couple bucks an inch. A full page 8X10" ad will cost you anywhere from everybody prices are different but that is the average prices. Your ad is very important, you don't just want to run a plain ad that doesn't get any attention, you need your ad to stand out from the crowd and grip all the attention it can get.
I can remember one of the first ads I had ever placed in a publication. It was a 1" ad for a money making program I had joined and I had the ad made by a mail order dealer. I believe it had only cost me $1 and a LSASE for him to make my ad. I received my ads in the mail and was not dissatisfied because as far as I was concerned the ad looked good, I could now send it in to a publication and have it published in their magazine. The ad had no clip art on it, no fancy fonts or anything, nothing fancies at all just a border box and some roman text in it. The banner was not even bolded. I ended up receiving 8 inquires to my ad. Later, I had another ad made with the same wording from a special typesetter who made a cool looking fancy border to my add, made my heading stand out with a nice looking font that kind of looked like 3-D. He even added a little artwork in that little 1" space with some dollar signs. I ran my new ad in the same magazine months later and received 31 responses, almost four times the amount from the other plain jane ad I had run. So don't ever forget the importance of your ad design, it can cost you a lot of customers.
